The City of LaGrange honored Accounting Specialist Brenda Leverett for 25 years of service.

Leverett received her 25-year service pin at the LaGrange City Council meeting Tuesday night.

Leverett was hired Oct. 6, 1992. She said she learned about striving for perfection and putting the City of LaGrange first from the late John Bell and retired Betty South.

Bell served as the city’s clerk of court and treasurer and South served as the accounting manager.

Leverett created the city’s Relay for Life team City Slickers in 2006. Throughout the year, she helps to raise money for local cancer survivors and their caregivers.  To date she has raised roughly $85,000 for Relay for Life.

“The City is blessed to have such a dedicated and compassionate employee as Brenda,” said Accounting Manager Lisa Duke, Brenda’s manager.

Leverett also leads the construction of the annual Christmas parade float for the City of LaGrange Relay for Life Team City Slickers.

“I am and always will be a servant of the people,” Levertt said. “It gives me the greatest feeling in the world to know that I have helped someone to reach their goals.”
