ATLANTA – It was an easy day at the office for the Callaway Cavaliers.
After hard-fought wins over Opelika and LaGrange to open the season, Callaway had a stress-free 50-0 road victory over Cross Keys on Friday.
The task will be considerably more difficult next Friday, with Callaway (3-0) taking on Troup (3-0) in a matchup of two unbeaten teams.
Cross Keys went three-and-out on its first possession, and Qua Hines gave Callaway the lead with a 43-yard touchdown run.
Callaway’s defense then got into the act, with Jalin Shephard returning an interception for a touchdown.
Bryce Kurian completed a pass to T Bonner for the two-point conversion.
Late in the first quarter, quarterback Demetrius Coleman’s 20-yard touchdown run and Hunter Williamson’s second extra point gave Callway a 22-0 lead.
After Tely Fanning returned an interception to the 1-yard line, Hines scored on a 1-yard run, and Callaway led 29-0.
Jabari Smith got into the act on Callaway’s next possession with a 4-yard touchdown run, and it was a 36-0 game.
In the second half, Charlie Dixon had a 75-yard touchdown run, and Antinius Barnes scored on a 30-yard run to cap the scoring.
