Cavaliers aiming for another title

The Callaway Cavaliers are attempting to do something that has become the norm under head coach Pete Wiggins.
Wiggins took over as Callaway’s head coach in 2005, and he led the program to its first region championship in 2008.
Since then, the Cavaliers have won six more region championships, and they’re hoping to add another one to the tally this year.
Callaway has reached the halfway point of its region schedule with a 3-0 record, and it will look to remain in first place with a home win over Spencer on Thursday.
Heard County is also still very much in the title picture with a 2-0 region record, and it will host Callaway next week in a rematch of last year’s region-championship game.
Bremen, which was unbeaten before losing 37-25 to Callaway, is 1-1 in the region, as is Spencer.
Lamar County and Jordan are 1-2 in region play, and Temple is 0-3.
If Callaway and Heard County both win this week, Callaway can capture the region title with a victory in Franklin next week.
The region’s top four teams will qualify for the state playoffs,.
