At the request of the Georgia Emergency Management Agency, Troup County E-911 responded to a request for Georgia Telecommunicator Emergency Response Taskforce assistance in Miller County, Georgia to aid Miller-Baker E-911 with the overabundance of emergency calls related to the aftermath of Hurricane Michael.

Miller County is among one of the hardest hit counties in Georgia, with 96 percent of residents being left without power from the effects of the storm. With their community struggling from the devastation of Hurricane Michael, Troup County E-911 Director Jason Lawson, Troup County Dispatcher Sherry Huckleberry, and Coweta County Dispatcher Christine Freeman deployed to Miller County, Georgia on Friday afternoon and provided relief through the weekend for the Miller-Baker E-911 staff and other local public safety communications personnel.

Through operations with the Georgia Telecommunicator Emergency Response Taskforce (TERT), they worked to help shoulder the burden of local 911 centers by coordinating and responding to emergency calls and handling dispatching operations at a time when resources were limited and stressed. The mission of TERT is to provide trained telecommunicators to assist in mutual aid response in the aftermath of disasters.
