Mr. John Paul Posey, Sr., of LaGrange, passed away on Nov. 2, 2018, at his residence. He was born on Dec. 18, 1929, to the late James Posey and Mary Lee Hunter Posey in Warm Springs, Georgia.

John proudly served in the United States Navy for four years. He worked for General Motors Parts and retired after 32 years. 

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Shirley Ann Liles Posey; sons, John Posey, Jr. (Jennie), Greg Posey (Angie), Terry Posey (Tiffany); grandchildren, Amanda Stitcher (Chris), Zachary Posey (Presley), Corey Posey (Erika), Skyler Posey, Jason Posey, Libby Kayte Posey, Jax Posey, Bryson Posey, Justin Posey, Megan Posey, Katelyn Posey, Caleb Posey, Nick Posey, Mikey Posey, Zander Posey, Grace Posey, Jayden Posey, Zoe Posey; great grandchildren, Chelci Stitcher, Elijah Stitcher, Zephyr Posey, Brody Posey, Aria Posey, Myla Posey; brother, George Posey (Betty), Randall Posey (Deborah), Bobby Posey (Nita), James Posey; sisters, Ann Tennant, Mattie Maxwell, JoAnn Faircloth, Betty Gilbert; many foster children loved by him and his family.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his granddaughters, Savannah Posey and Ada Leigh Posey. Family received friends for visitation from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 5, 2018 at the Higgins LaGrange Chapel. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2018, at the Gray Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Lamar Womack, the Rev. Dwayne Perdue and the Rev. Wendall Rush officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
