Local closures for the New Year’s holiday

With the new year ringing in Monday night, many agencies will be closed. Because of the closure of the U.S. Postal Service on New Year’s Day Tuesday, there will be no Jan. 1 edition of The LaGrange Daily News.
The Troup County Government Center will be open and operate on a normal schedule Monday, Dec. 31. The center will be closed Jan. 1.
Troup County convenience centers Loyd-Tatum on 711 Old West Point Road, the Work Camp Hamilton Road Convenience Center on 2490 Hamilton Road and Troup County C+D Landfill/Mountville Convenience Center at 174 Parmer Road will remain open Dec. 31.
Troup County Parks and Recreation at Mike Daniel Recreation Center will close early at 5 p.m. on Dec. 31, 2018.
The City of LaGrange will also be closed Jan. 1. Monday will be a normal trash pickup day.
According to a press release from the City of LaGrange, bins to help with the overflow of trash are at DFACS building on Hogansville Road, Hollis Hand Elementary School, Granger Park Track, Brenda Boulevard at Kings Park Lane, Colquitt Street near McGregor Street, Daniel Street at Dix Street and Wilkes Street at Unity School. The bins will be available through Monday.
Garbage and recycling pickup will be pushed back one day, meaning regular service for Tuesday will be Wednesday. Wednesday service will be Thursday, and Thursday pickup will take place on Friday.
The City of Hogansville will be closed Monday and Tuesday, and will resume normal hours on Wednesday, Jan. 2. Hogansville garbage pickup for Tuesday will be picked up on Wednesday.
The City of West Point will be closed Jan. 1. Garbage services for Tuesday will be on Wednesday.
