Ten wrestling teams, including the host Cavaliers, will participate in a dual-format tournament at Callaway High on Saturday.
The teams will be divided into two five-team pools, and the top finishers in each pool will wrestle for the championship.
Each team will be guaranteed five matches, and the action gets started at 9 a.m.
Joining Callaway in the tournament are LaGrange, Heard County, Bowdon, Haralson County, Chapel Hill, Upson-Lee, Mount Zion, Landmark Christian and McIntosh.
“It looks pretty neat when you have that many mats in our gym, because you don’t see it that often,” said Jason Boatman, Callaway’s head coach. “You get to this once a year where it’s full of mats, wall-to-wall. You’ve got that many teams coming, and you take pride in the whole thing, and setting it up, and you want to perform well.”
For Callaway, it will be a nice tune-up for the area duals that will be held the following week in Bremen.
“It sets up well that we get to wrestle this many duals the week before (area),” Boatman said. “That’s important.”
