A lawsuit between a LaGrange family and the Troup County School System, LaGrange College and the Troup County Health Department reached a confidential resolution on Jan. 18. 

The lawsuit was a result of the drowning of 14-year-old Nar’Quevious Tucker at the LaGrange College pool July 29, 2017. 

Tucker, a rising freshman at LaGrange High School, had participated in the team’s summer football camp that day. After the camp, the team traveled to the LaGrange College pool, which had been reserved for their use.

According to information released at that time, players saw Tucker at the bottom of the pool and pulled him out.

Tucker was transported to WellStar West Georgia Medical Center, stabilized and flown to an Atlanta area hospital, where he died. His cause of death was officially ruled a drowning. 

“The parties in this case came together and openly discussed the legal issues and positions of all sides, and with the assistance of a former judge (now mediator) reached a confidential resolution of the lawsuit,” said Matthew Moffett, attorney for LaGrange College, in an email.

Lisa Reeves, attorney for the Tucker family, declined to comment on the case.
