Panthers get first win

The LaGrange College Panthers, after dropping their first four softball games of the season, swept a doubleheader from visiting Fontbonne on Friday.
After winning the first game 9-1, Taylor Long’s walk-off hit gave LaGrange College a 6-5 victory in game two.
There was no drama in the first game, with the Panthers easing to their first win of the season.
Long did a lot of the offensive damage with four hits and four RBIs, and she scored two runs.
Kelsey Dietz and Landon DeLamar each had two hits and two runs scored, Lauren DeLoach had a hit and an RBI, and Madelynn Formby had a double.
Emsley Smith was the starting pitcher, and she threw four innings to get the win. Ivy Grant pitched a scoreless fifth inning.
In the second game, the Panthers scored a single run in the sixth inning to tie it, and they plated the game-winning run in the seventh.
Kaitlin Redman had a two-run home run for the Panthers, and Formby had a big game with three hits and three RBIs.
Long had two hits, including the single in the seventh inning that brought DeLamar home with the winning run.
Kristina Calixto pitched two scoreless innings in relief to get the win.
LaGrange College will be back home on Tuesday against USA South foe Huntingdon.
