A man returned to his home in the 500 block of Camelot Drive about 8 p.m. Monday to discover a door broken open.

He told LaGrange police officers someone stole a Remington 870 20-gauge pump-action shotgun, a Taurus Judge revolver, a small Sentry Fireproof Safe with about $1,000 in collectible U.S. coins and four Brighton Necklaces.

The total value for items was estimated at about $2,500.

Emaciated cows

LaGrange Animal Control officers assisted Troup County deputies in rounding up several cows Monday evening in the 1000 block of Bass Cross Road.

According to the report, animal control officers observed the cows in two different pastures. The officers described the animal’s pen as, “Horrible … nothing but mud, feces, and timber.”

Animal Control officers said there were a total of nine cows and all appeared to be emaciated and had no food in their pens.

The report stated the two departments worked through the evening, despite several setbacks due to the terrain, and were able to safely remove all of the cattle from the location.
