The LaGrange Police Department is investigating two separate, likely unrelated weekend incidents that resulted in gunshots being fired into multiple residences.

The first incident occurred Friday night at 7:29 p.m., when officers responded to Cedar Street in reference to shots fired in the area. When officers arrived, they located a large crowd of subjects, with two subjects actively fighting. According to the press release, the LPD determined numerous subjects had been involved in a physical altercation on Cedar Street.

At some point during the incident, an unknown black male subject started shooting, according to the LPD.

Before police arrived, that subject fled. No one was injured in the shooting, but a home on the 900 block of Whitesville Street was struck by one of the bullets. One adult and 12 juveniles were inside the home at the time of the shooting.

Brenyavia Brecole McGhee, 22, was arrested for disorderly conduct for her role in the fight before the shooting, according to LPD Sgt. Robert Kirby.  A juvenile was also arrested.

In a second, separate incident Sunday evening at around 11:40 p.m., officers responded to shots fired into an occupied residence on the 1800 block of Murphy Avenue.

Officers determined a bullet had struck a window at that location, and two adults were inside at the time of the shooting.

After an investigation, officers determined that the shooting may have been related to a fight where shots were fired prior to officers arriving in the area.

When officers made contact at that time with the occupants of the home, they were told a group of unknown black males went to the location for an unknown subject. One of the victims told police that the person they were looking for wasn’t at that location. As the subjects drove away, someone fired two shots into the air. Officers were unable to obtain any suspect information at that time. It is believed the fight on Murphy Avenue and the shooting into the building may be related.

“There were a lot of witnesses, so if anybody has any information, we would ask that they call the LaGrange Police Department or Crimestoppers,” Kirby said.
