Lion’s Club holds annual field day

The Lions Club’s annual fundraiser let adults act feel like kids again for a few hours Saturday at Pyne Road Park.
The club held its second annual field day, which included eight teams that competed in traditional athletic contests such as tug-of-war, three-legged race and a sack race.
“You get to act like a kid again as an adult,” said Josh King, who participated on the Synovus team. “Who can pass that opportunity up?”
The Lions Club assists with vision efforts in the community, as well as other community efforts. The club came up with the idea for the field day a few years ago, realizing it would be an event the community didn’t have at the time.
“We thought two years ago of how we could do a fundraiser that is new, entertaining and bring in new perspective members to Lions Club,” said event chairperson Josh O’Neal. “And what better way to do that than a fun, outdoor activity that no one is really doing?”
O’Neal said the goal of the event was to raise $5,000, and the club exceeded that goal.
The teams participating included LaGrange High School, West Georgia Medical Center sixth floor, Medicine Cabinet, WellStar West Georgia Homecare, Mike Patton Auto, Junior Service League, Synovus and Trammell Firm. Lloyd Presbyterian Church also had several members compete.
Synovus placed first overall. Straight Out of Class was second, and Junior Service League was third. Junior Service League also won the Most Spirited Trophy.
