WEST POINT — A LaGrange man was arrested Sunday morning on several charges involving firing a handgun in a West Point apartment in October.

Antrevious Watkins, 22, has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a gun, criminal damage to public property, burglary, aggravated stalking and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

According to West Point Police Captain Robert Fawley, the incident happened in the 1400 block of 14th Street. Watkins, who was out on bond on misdemeanor stalking charges against a female, went to that woman’s home to find two men at her residence. Fawley said at the time Watkins and the female were engaged in a series of “on again, off again” relationships.

During an altercation with the men, Watkins pulled a firearm and fired six shots at the two men, striking their vehicles. No one was injured in the incident.

After firing the shots, Watkins left the area.

When police were made aware of the shooting later that morning, Fawley said witnesses reported Watkins got into a silver four-door vehicle that left the scene. Police later stopped a similar vehicle with rear passenger window damager but Watkins was not found.

On Sunday, Watkins was apprehended by a bail bondsman and incarcerated in the Troup County Jail. He has been denied bond.

If convicted, each charge could carry of a sentence of 10 to 20 years in prison.
