Troup rallies from early deficit

The Troup High softball team bounced back from an early deficit to get an 11-7 road win over Woodward Academy on Tuesday.

It was the first of three games in three days to end the regular season as Troup prepares for next week’s Region 5-AAAA tournament.

Troup, the number six seed, will face third-seeded Cedartown in a best-of-three series, with the winner advancing to the state playoffs.

In Tuesday’s game, Troup was behind 6-1 after the first inning, and it was still trailing by four runs when it scored three runs in the fourth inning before taking the lead with four runs in the top of the fifth.

Troup had a big day at the plate with 13 hits, with nine different players coming through with at least one hit.

Olivia McInvale had two hits with a double, and she drove in two runs.

Hadleigh Livingston had two hits and an RBI, and Avery Pearson and Lexi Parker had two hits apiece.

Caroline McInvale had a double and two RBIs, Maggie McDonald had a hit and two RBIs, Jennifer Albertson had a double and an RBI, and Skye Loftin had a hit.

Maggie McDonald got the complete-game victory, and only one of the seven runs she allowed was earned.
