LHS, Troup cheerleaders headed to state sectional

The LaGrange and Troup High cheerleading teams are both headed to the state sectional after strong performances in the Region 5-AAAA meet on Saturday.
In a region that includes defending state-champion Cartersville, Troup finished fourth and LaGrange was fifth, and both teams had scores high enough to qualify them for the state sectional.
The state sectional will be on Friday in Columbus, with the top teams advancing to the state finals on Saturday.
WRESTLING: LaGrange High’s wrestling team opened the season by going 3-2 in the Alexander Duals in Douglasville on Saturday.
LaGrange beat Northside-Columbus, Paulding County and Troup, and it lost to Fannin County and Alexander.
Matt Callaway and Gunner Coppinger each won all five of their matches on Saturday, and Grayson Whaley, Colin Cavender, Austin Crow and Julian Santiago each had three wins.
Troup wrestled four times and had one win.
