It’s conference time for the LaGrange College baseball team.

LaGrange College, which was the preseason pick to win the USA South championship, will open conference play with a three-game home series against North Carolina Wesleyan this weekend.

The teams will play a single game on Saturday at 3 p.m., and a doubleheader on Sunday starting at 11 a.m.

LaGrange College (2-4) is coming off a 4-1 road win over Birmingham Southern last weekend.

After losing the first two games of the series at home, LaGrange College went on the road and handed Birmingham Southern its first loss of the season.

Saturday marks the start of a stretch where LaGrange College will play 15 consecutive games at home, and that includes conference series against N.C. Wesleyan, Huntingdon and Piedmont.

Under head coach David Kelton, LaGrange College has won the past three USA South tournament championships to advance to the NCAA Division III regional.

Since the start of the 2016 season, LaGrange College has an overall record of 134-51.

BASKETBALL: LaGrange College’s men’s team wraps up the regular season with a massive home game against Maryville on Saturday.

LaGrange College will play Maryville at 2 p.m., and the winner will earn the USA South West’s fourth and final spot in the eight-team conference tournament next week.

LaGrange College (7-17 overall) is 6-11 in conference play, while Maryville is 7-10 against USA South foes.

If LaGrange College wins on Saturday, it would move into a tie for fourth, and it would win the tie-breaker because it would have swept both regular-season games from Maryville.

SOFTBALL: LaGrange College will make its season debut this weekend with four games at Millsaps College in Mississippi.

The Panthers play two games on Saturday, and one game on Sunday.

LaGrange College plays Austin in its season opener at 12:30 p.m., and it will play Millsaps at 5:30 p.m.

On Sunday, LaGrange College plays Dallas at noon, and Mississippi University at 4 p.m.

LaGrange College makes its home debut on Feb. 29 against Greensboro.
