Callaway opens region play with sweep

COLUMBUS – The Callaway Cavaliers opened their Region 5-AA schedule with a doubleheader sweep of Jordan on Friday.
After winning the first game 11-0, Callaway completed the sweep with another 11-0 win.
In game one, Justin Moore started and pitched four shutout innings, and he had eight strikeouts.
Eli Freeman threw a scoreless fifth inning to finish it, and he didn’t give up any hits.
Offensively, Luke Swann hit a three-run home run, and he finished the game with two hits and four RBIs.
C.J. Stephens had two hits and an RBI, Moore, Wesley Marchman and Kaden Rogers each had a hit and an RBI, and Jimmy Dukes and Tucker Starling each had a hit.
In game two, Dawson Wright got the start, and he threw three dominant innings, holding Jordan to one hit with five strikeouts.
Zach Neighbors pitched 1 1/3 innings while giving up just one hit, and Ayden Brooks got the final two outs of the fifth inning.
Swann had another big game with two hits and two RBIs, and Starling had two hits with a double and an RBI.
Marchman had two hits and an RBI, Rogers had a double, Stephens had four RBIs from the leadoff position, and Jabari Smith had three RBIs.
