A Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia employee has died from complications related to COVID-19, according to a statement from KMMG.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family, friends, co-workers and all of those who are grieving,” said KMMG in a statement.
The team member developed symptoms during KMMG’s recent suspension of production and has not been at the plant since mid-March, according to the statement. No symptoms or positive cases have been reported among anyone who was known to have contacted the team member.
Grief counseling will be available remotely to all KMMG team members through the company’s team member assistance program.
KMMG said it does not expect to release any further information.
KMMG announced via a statement that it is suspending production for May 26-May 29 due to supply chain issues. The plant was already closed on Monday due to Memorial Day.
Earlier this week, KMMG said there were five active cases of COVID-19 in KMMG employees and another 12 team members have already recovered.
