For nearly two weeks, high-school sports teams in Troup County have been able to get together for summer conditioning, but what they’ve been able to do has been limited.

When conditioning began last week, teams weren’t able to use equipment related to their specific sports, which meant no balls.

That will change next week.

On Wednesday, the Georgia High School Association made an adjustment to the guidelines teams have had to follow since the start of summer workouts.

Beginning on Monday, teams will be able to begin using balls during the workouts, although scrimmaging and contact still won’t be allowed.

Another change involves the number of student-athletes that can be involved in a workout session.

For the first week of conditioning a workout group couldn’t involve more than 20 people, and that included players and coaches, and this week that number grew to 25.

Beginning next week, as many as 50 people from two existing groups will be able to get together for a workout.

All of the other guidelines that were issued before the start of workouts will remain in place.
