A Long Cane Elementary School student has tested positive for COVID-19, the school announced in a Facebook post on Wednesday.
The student will not be allowed to return to the school for at least 10 days, per Troup County School System policy. Students who had direct contact with the student will also need to quarantine for 14 days and monitor systems.
“LCE has taken extra precaution to make sure our classes are not mixing so this student has not been in contact with other students outside their own classroom,” the post reads.
Direct contact means within six feet for more than 15 minutes, as defined by the Georgia Department of Public Health.
The areas of the building used by the student will also be closed off and disinfected.
According to the post, the school is in contact with the DPH.
