Two Troup County School System students have tested positive for COVID-19 at separate schools.

According to a press release from TCSS, the students were tested Monday and did not return to school. School administrators were notified of the positive test results Wednesday afternoon.

Long Cane Elementary and Hollis Hand Elementary announced positive cases via their  Facebook pages on Wednesday afternoon.

According to the press release, all school staff members, parents of students in the classes, and the entire school families were notified.

Only students and staff members who were in direct contact with the two students have been asked to quarantine for 14 days and monitor symptoms. According to the Georgia Department of Public Health, direct contact is within 6 feet for more than 15 minutes with or without a mask.

Per the Troup County School System’s established protocol, the impacted areas of the buildings have been temporarily closed so that the spaces can be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected.
