Half of the registered voters in Troup County have already voted early, according to elections manager Andy Harper. 

Harper said a total of 21,931 votes had come in as of 10 a.m. Monday morning, but he expects more to come in throughout the day from absentee ballots. 

Out of the 21,000 that voted, 15,977 of those votes were in person. A total of 5,954 votes were sent in through absentee. 

As of Nov. 1, there are 43,169 registered voters in Troup County. 

This year the City of Hogansville was approved for the creation of a second early voting location for the November election. Harper said that 2,436 votes came in through the Hogansville polling place. 

Harper said since half the county’s registered voters have already voted, he does not know if polling places will see long lines or not on Tuesday.  

Absentee ballots must be received by the voter registration office by 7 p.m. on Election Day.
