A LaGrange High School student was killed and two others were injured in a wreck on Thursday night.
The one-vehicle accident occurred on Borton Street and took place before 7 p.m., according to Sgt. Marshall McCoy with the LaGrange Police Department. McCoy said the Chevrolet Trailblazer in the accident overturned a few times and a passenger, later identified as Traveion “Trae” Cole, was ejected from the vehicle.
Cole, 17, was pronounced dead at WellStar West Georgia Medical Center. McCoy said speed was a factor in the accident.
McCoy said two other Troup County School System students were also involved in the accident. Both have already been released from WellStar West Georgia Medical Center.
“Our thoughts and prayers go out to these students and their families,” said Troup County School System Superintendent Brian Shumate.
Shumate said Friday night’s LaGrange High-Troup High football game has been postponed, and grief counseling will be provided to students on Friday.
