1959-2020

Stephen Duane Whited, 61, of LaGrange, passed away on Dec. 27, 2020. 

He was born June 15, 1959 to the late Charles Whited and Erma Hall Whited Smith in Elyria, Ohio. 

He was the owner and chef of Captain’s Cove Restaurant in LaGrange. Before owning Captains Cove, he was a chef at Sam White’s and Mildred’s Restaurant and the co-owner of Spring House Inn. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Charles Whited, Terry Whited, and Tommy Smith; sister, Joyce Ogletree.

Survivors include his wife, Carol McClendon Whited; daughter, Allison McClendon (Ethan); sons, Charlie Smith (Adrian), Brandon Smith; brother, Rick Whited; nephew, Justin Whited (Brandi); the Captain’s Cove family; other nieces and nephews; extended family and friends.

Family will have visitation on Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2020 from 11 am -1 pm at Higgins Funeral Home at Hunter Allen Myhand. Funeral service will begin at 2 pm at the funeral home. Entombment will follow at Restlawn Memory Gardens. The service will be live streamed at www.facebook.com/HigginsLaGrangeChapel.
