The community is invited to hop over to LaGrange First United Methodist Church’s annual free Community Easter Egg Hunt at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the field near The Thread behind St. Mark’s Episcopal Church.

“We are so excited to put this back on this year,” said Jeanne Jones, FUMC children’s minister. “I met with our kids group recently, and they were jumping up and down so excited for Saturday.”

Last year, due to COVID-19, the event had to be canceled but this year the Easter Bunny is back in action for the event.

More than 4,000 filled plastic eggs, wrapped candy, and prize eggs will be hidden for children ages 11 and under.

Plenty of filled baskets and other Easter goodies will be awarded to the prize-egg holders

“We opened it up to the community about three years ago,” Jones said. “Each year, it grows and grows and grows, so we’re excited to see how many people come out this year.”

FUMC asks that families and children do their best to remain at least six feet apart from others before, during and after the hunt. Anyone over the age of three is asked to wear a mask.

“We hope this gives some sort of normalcy for families and children in our community,” Jones said.

Jones said she recommends families get to the site early so they have a spot set up for when the hunt kicks off at 10 a.m. All children must bring their own Easter egg basket as well.

After the Egg Hunt, families can walk along The Thread to a “Stations of the Cross.”

“Its seven stations that have interactive activities and Bible scripture passages and are a great way for adults and children to share the events of Holy Week and Easter together,” Jones said.
