For the second week in a row, Troup County has a chance of severe weather.

Storms are expected to pass through on Thursday and Friday, with Troup County under a slight risk of severe weather. A slight risk is two out of five on the National Weather Service’s severe weather scale.

The far northwest corner of Georgia, as well as parts of north and west Alabama, are under a moderate risk for severe weather, four out of five on the NWS scale. A portion of counties north of Troup County are under an enhanced risk of severe weather, three of five on the scale.

Tornadoes, damaging winds, and isolated flash flooding are the main threats from Thursday’s line of storms. The weather is expected to impact the area Thursday evening into Friday morning.

“The potential for an outbreak of severe storms including several long-track strong tornadoes, scattered large to very large hail, and severe/destructive winds, will exist Thursday into Thursday evening across a portion of the lower Mississippi Valley, Tennessee Valley, and Southeast,” wrote the NWS’ Storm Prediction Center.
