Sweetland Amphitheatre announced its first two 2021 concerts on Wednesday, ending a long hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The season kicks off with a country swing with southern rock artist Travis Tritt on Friday, July 16 and continues Saturday, July 24 when 14-time Grammy winner Emmylou Harris takes the stage.

Tickets for both concerts go on sale Friday, May 14 at 10 a.m. Additional shows for the 2021 season will be announced as they are scheduled, said Sweetland Amphitheatre General Manager Katie McGinty.

Both Tritt and Harris were scheduled to perform at Sweetland in 2020, but the COVID-19 pandemic caused Sweetland to have to cancel its entire concert season.

Sweetland is hoping to put on 10 to 12 concerts throughout the summer and fall, McGinty said, five of which are from the 2020 rescheduled concert lineup.

These announcements were McGinty’s first as Sweetland’s new general manager, and she is excited for what’s to come.

“We have put all resources and efforts into getting open as soon as we can,” McGinty said. “We appreciate all of our sponsors … and so many other people who support us. We are very excited to offer music back to LaGrange and Sweetland.”

The concerts will be at full capacity and masks will be optional, McGinty said. Hand sanitizer stations will be available.

“We’ve been waiting for clearance from the governor to open at full capacity, and we’ve received that clearance,” she said.

Tickets bought in 2020 from a third-party seller are no longer valid, and buyers will need to contact the seller for a refund.

Tickets bought directly from Sweetland have already been refunded, McGinty said.
