LaGRANGE — LaGrange police have released the man who reportedly shot another man inside a Whitesville Street home just after 10:30 a.m. Monday.

Lt. Dale Strickland, head of the LaGrange police Criminal Investigation Section, said Lamond Anderson, 23, of Greenville, was released after detectives spoke to several witnesses who told them Anderson shot the victim in self-defense.

The shooting occurred after the two got into a physical fight over a card game, Strickland said.

The victim was flown to Grady Medical Center in Atlanta with a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

A detective was able to interview the victim Wednesday in the hospital, but the man was still heavily sedated. Strickland said detectives would re-interview the victim toward the end of the week when he is released from the medical center.

Anyone with any information about the incident is asked to contact the LaGrange Police Department at 706-883-2603 or Troup County Crime Stoppers at 706-812-1000.
