Cities and the county announce their closures for this holiday season

Troup County’s city and county governments will close early and stay closed through the Christmas holiday. Some are already announcing closure plans for New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.
The Troup County Government Center will be closed on Thursday and Friday and will return to normal business hours on Monday, Dec. 27. Additionally, all Troup County Convenience Centers will be operating at normal business hours on Dec. 23 and Dec. 24. All centers will reopen on Monday for normal operating hours. The county will announce its New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day hours at a later date.
The City of LaGrange will be closed for business Thursday and Friday, but trash collection for city residents will continue as normal on Thursday.
To help with the anticipated overflow of trash from Christmas, the city of LaGrange will be placing several additional garbage bins throughout the city.
The bins will be at the following locations:
- Dunson Park, 1210 Hogansville Rd.
- Hollis Hand School, 641 Country Club Rd.
- Granger Park Track parking lot
- Brenda Boulevard/Kings Park Lane
- Colquitt Street/McGregor St.
- Daniel Street/Dix St.
- Wilkes Street at Unity School
- Park Hill/Hickory Terrace
The bins will be available on Thursday until Dec. 30.
The City of LaGrange’s essential services, such as the LaGrange Police Department and LaGrange Fire Department, will remain open on Christmas and New Years.
The City of Hogansville will be closed Christmas Eve and reopen Tuesday. For residents whose garbage pick-up day falls on Thursday, their garbage will be picked up Friday.
West Point’s city services will be closed on Thursday and Friday. Trash pick-up for West Point will occur regularly on Friday.
All Troup-Harris Regional Libraries will be closed from Thursday until Saturday. Libraries will return to their normal operating hours on Monday.
Hawkes Library in West Point will close Wednesday and remain closed until Jan. 3.
Closures for New Years are also starting to be announced.
The city of LaGrange will be closed Monday, Jan. 3 in observance of New Year’s Day, and garbage pickup will not take place on Jan. 3.
Pickup for the week of the third will be pushed back one day: Monday pickup will be on Tuesday, Tuesday pickup will be on Wednesday, Wednesday pickup will be on Thursday and Thursday pickup will be on Friday.
Hogansville City Hall will close Friday, Dec. 31, for New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day and reopen Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2022.
The LaGrange Daily News office will be closed on both upcoming Fridays — Christmas Eve and New Years Eve.
