Candidates for the royal court are hoping for some last-minute donations as they prepare for this Saturday’s Behind the Mask Mardi Gras Ball for Twin Cedars. While the event is sold out, members of the community can still donate to their favorite member of the court in the hopes of helping them win the title of king and queen. The event will start at 7 p.m. and include an investiture ceremony starting at 7:45 p.m.
Voting continues until noon on Friday.
Jennifer Shawa, director for development of Twin Cedars, said the campaign has raised $104,000 out of their $125,000 goal.
The 2022 Royal Court is composed of five men and seven women who are vying for the top spot. Running for king of the royal court are Zack Britt, Coleman Foss, Lonnie Thornton, Nigel Walker and Alex Beall. Running for queen of the royal court are De’sa Fuller, Jenna Eady, Angelia Laws, Larhonda Bailey, Kendall Butler, Tiffany Lowery and Avery Britt.
Twin Cedars is a nonprofit organization based out of Georgia and Alabama that helps the youth with a variety of topics such as providing quality of care to victims of abuse and neglect. The programs range from prevention, advocacy and oversight on residential programs.

Sheri Codi, executive director of Twin Cedars said in a previous interview with The LaGrange Daily News that the members of the court are the type of people to jump right into it.
“[They are] the group of people who are willing to jump into the river in the winter time with hype, not just anybody’s going to run for king or queen,” Codi said.
Members of the court held different events that were advertised via Facebook to help raise money for their campaign. These events varied depending on the campaigner. For instance, Alex Beall held “A Night of Music” on Feb. 4, while Jenna Eady hosted a fitness fundraiser on Feb. 5.
