A 29-year-old Black male was arrested for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, trafficking cocaine, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and theft by receiving stolen property, according to a press release from LaGrange Police Department. Members of the LPD special investigations unit received information that the suspect, Sergio C. Barrett, was distributing marijuana within the city limits.
The subsequent investigation allowed investigators to confirm Barrett was actively distributing various amounts of marijuana to citizens in the city.
A search warrant was obtained for Barretts’ place of business, located at 131 Peters Street.
On Feb. 22, investigators were able to determine that Barrett was living at 103 Mountville St.
Due to the recent drug intelligence they received and Barrett’s felony probation status, investigators made contact with him at the residence.
According to the press release, investigators conducted a search of this residence, where they located personal evidence indicating that Barrett had been living at this location for an extended period of time.
They located approximately 2.5 pounds of marijuana, a bag that contained approximately 2.9 ounces of suspected crack cocaine and three firearms. Two of the firearms had been reported stolen.
