The Troup County Parks and Recreation Department requested on behalf of the Active Life of LaGrange Tuesday to move $10,000 from the special Active Life Expansion fund to its general fund.
This shift in the budget is needed in order to incorporate the expansion of its facility’s walking trail. The Active Life plans to add handicap access ramps at multiple points along the trail, said Lance Dennis Parks and Recreation Director.
Currently, there is $56,000 in the Active Life Expansion Fund, Dennis said.
Several years ago, Active Life created a bank account to encase donations made by private donors, subsequently creating Active Life’s expansion fund, Dennis said.
In 2018, the decision was made to incorporate the funds into the Active Life’s account.
Dennis noted that the courts are frequently used by the program’s participants. The Troup County Board of Commissioners granted the request at its regular meeting Tuesday night.
