Mrs. Shalanda Chalance Burden Gilbert passed away Monday.

She was born May 30, 1978, in Roanoke, Randolph County, Alabama to Gloria Appleby Burden and John Frank Houston.

She was employed by Oak View, Waverly Hall as a Social Service Director.

Survivors include her husband, Otis Gilbert; six children:  Ki’ena Burden, D’Erika Burden, Isaiah Burden, Shandrika (D’Lon, Sr.) Staples, Corey Webb, and Jonathan Gilbert, all of LaGrange, Georgia; grandchildren; her parents:  Gloria (Titus) Burden, Sr.; and John Frank (Deborah) Houston; siblings:  Titus Burden, Jr., Chandra Williams, both of LaGrange, Georgia; Verna Carey, Mobile, Alabama; Tarra (Vernon) Hardnett, LaFayette, Alabama; Tiffany (Demetrius) Harris, Columbus, Georgia; Akisa Tucker, Roanoke, Alabama; Nakia (Jackie) McNeil, Martell Riddle, Atlanta, Georgia; sisters-in-law:  Mary (Dewery) Davenport, Chattanooga, Tennesee; Vivian (Gregory) Smith, Decatur, Georgia; Stacey Renae Gilbert, LaGrange, Georgia; brother-in-law, Timothy Gilbert, Dallas, Georgia; aunt, Martha Appleby; uncle, Jessie Atkinson; great aunt, Sybil Lockhart; and a host of nieces, nephews, and an array of relatives and friends.

The Service will be Friday at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Lakes-Dunson-Robertson Funeral Home. The excellent care of Mrs. Gilbert is being provided by Lakes-Dunson-Robertson Funeral Home.
