E. Crovat Street fire causes $15,000 in damages

The LaGrange Fire Department was dispatched on Monday, March 7th at 1:08 a.m. to 105 East Crovat Street for the report of a structure fire.
LFD units arrived on the scene at 1:12 a.m. and found the front of the house on fire. The fire was quickly contained.
The one occupant in the house at the time of the fire stated the smoke detector woke him up and he then discovered a fire in the kitchen. He safely evacuated the residence and called 911.
The home was valued at $30,000 before the fire. Estimated damages are $15,000. The American Red Cross was called in to assist the resident.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
The LaGrange Fire Department would like to encourage everyone to keep all interior doors closed when you are at home or away from home. Closed door can prevent the spread of smoke, fire and heat inside a residence.
