The LaGrange boys’ baseball team dominated Shaw 4-0 on Friday night.
Trey Cook was absolutely electric on the mound as he pitched all seven innings, allowing just a single hit and striking out a whopping 14 batters.
The Grangers were able to get on the scoreboard when Turner Cook doubled to center field to drive in Kayden Sutton.
The Grangers added two more runs two innings later in the top of fourth. Gryson Cockrell walked to drive home a run with no outs. Seth Stargell lined into a double-play, but was still able to drive in another run to make it 3-0 LaGrange. Unfortunately, the Grangers could not stretch their lead out any wider in the inning despite the fact that they had the bases loaded with no outs when Cockrell walked.
The Grangers added another run in the top of the seventh as Turner Cook launched a moon shot over the centerfield wall.
Turner Cook put on a clinic at the plate as he reached base on all four of his at-bats. He went three for three with a double, the aforementioned home run, drove in two runs and scored two runs as well as taking a walk.
Zach Thompson also had a nice day at the plate as he went two of three and generated a walk as well.
LaGrange improves to 8-4 overall and 2-0 in region play. The Grangers will be licking their chops with another game against Shaw scheduled for March 14.
