Troup County baseball lost 7-1 to Newnan on Monday.

Newnan got the scoring started with a run in the bottom of the first. The Cougars added two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning before adding another four runs in the sixth inning.

The Tigers added a consolation run in the top of the seventh, but it was too little too late for Troup County.

The Tigers’ offense struggled as they could only accumulate two hits in the game. Daniel Martin and Josh Mcdonald both went one for three to grab the Tigers only two hits on the night. Reed Morris scored the only run with Will Keeter earning the only RBI.

Tripp Cummings got the start on the mound for the Tigers and went four innings and allowed five hits, no earned runs on one strikeout. Rocky Pemberton and Landon Alsobrook came in to relieve Cummings and pitched an inning apiece.

After winning three in a row, the Tigers have now dropped three of their last four games. Troup County dropped to 17-8, but keeps its 10-2 record in region play. The Tigers are in second place in Region 2-AAAA behind the Grangers but have two games against LaGrange this week including Wednesday’s home game.
