Winners crowned in Mr. and Miss Callaway High scholarship competition

HOGANSVILLE— Thirteen Callaway High School students competed in the 2022 Mr. and Miss Callaway High School Monday night and two walked away with honors and a scholarship from the school.
The competition, held at the Callaway High School’s small gym, featured an introduction and on-stage question and answer session. Questions included “who is a role model and why?” and “What does it mean to be a Callaway High School student?” All participants participated in an entrance interview in front of the three judges prior to the event. Students were chosen by members of clubs they are a part of, such as Book Club, Fishing Team, the football team and Key Club.
Zikei Brooks and Serenity Woodyard ultimately took home the Mr. and Miss Callaway High School titles while Mikhala Smith and Caleb Matias-Villator were first runners-up.
Two students won category awards. Brooks took home best interview and Krystyn Garrett won the crowd favorite award and congeniality award, which participants chose. To win the crowd favorite award, attendees donated money to the participant of their choice. The unspecified amount of funds will go to the Callaway High School student council.
The event was judged by Hogansville City Councilmember Mandy Neese, Dexter Martin, chief talent officer for Troup County Schools and Syndey Cook-Horne, owner of S&C Designs
