The Troup County Commission announced Tuesday it is rolling back the county’s millage rate by three-quarters of a mill.
County Manager Eric Mosley said that’ll equate to $2 million total being returned to taxpayers. Troup County’s current millage rate is 11.31.
“We feel like over the last several years that we managed our financials very well,” County Commission Chairman Patrick Crews said. “We have been blessed in TC with a lot of development the last several years and feel like we have a bright future in front of us.”
Crews said rolling back the millage rate had been discussed for months, but it took time to finalize the plan.
At the meeting, none of the commissioners could remember off-hand when the last time the millage rate was decreased.
