17-year-old accidentally shoots juvenile in back

A juvenile was hospitalized after a 17-year-old accidentally shot him in the back, according to the LaGrange Police Department.
On Friday night, officers with LaGrange Police Department responded to WellStar West Georgia Medical Center in reference to a subject with a gunshot wound to the back.
Upon arrival, officers spoke to the juvenile victim who reported that he was accidentally shot with a handgun by a known subject at Phoenix Landing, 1006 Whitesville Road. After the initial investigation, officers determined that the suspect, a 17-year-old would be charged with reckless conduct and possession of a handgun under 18. The suspect was taken into custody at the hospital and transported to the Troup County Sheriff’s Office for booking. The juvenile who was shot was treated and later released from WellStar West Georgia Medical Center.
