Four days after Hogansville City Manager Jonathan Lynn’s sudden resignation, Hogansville Mayor Jake Ayers said plans for the future of the position will be announced in the next few weeks. 

Ayers first responded to the LDN’s request for comment Wednesday night.

“[I] and the council reached a mutual agreement and understanding with the city manager for his resignation,” Ayers said via text message to the LDN Wednesday. “We’ve accomplished a lot in the last two years and wish Mr. Lynn well in his future endeavors.  We have a lot of new exciting things happening in Hogansville, and a lot of new energized leaders. We are excited for the season ahead have a lot of fresh vision for the next season of life in Hogansville.”

On Friday, the LDN asked for clarification on why Lynn left his position as well as who would serve in his role.

“Mr. Lynn, as well as the council both felt it was time to move in another direction,” he said via text message.

Ayers was additionally asked when the position for a new city manager would be posted.

“We have a great staff to assist our city manager during the interim, and myself and the council plan to make plans for the future in the next couple of weeks,” Ayers said. “I will give that information [on the city manager’s position] when it is available.”

Lynn responded to the LDN’s response for comment Tuesday, the day after his resignation.

“Mayor and Council reached a mutual decision for me to resign as City Manager,” Lynn said in a prepared text message to the LDN. “I have enjoyed my time in Hogansville, am very proud of what has been accomplished in the 2 years I have served as City Manager and hope for a bright future for the City of Hogansville as well as whatever future endeavors are in store for me.”

Following this response, Lynn was also asked for further specification for his resignation but, as of Friday, had not responded. Lynn’s resignation followed a nearly four-hour executive session at the Hogansville City Council meeting Monday night — the topic of which was personnel. Councilmember Mandy Neese agreed to the motion first, followed by councilmember Matthew Morgan.

Lynn was hired as Hogansville city manager in June 2020.
