EDITOR’S NOTE: This story has been updated.
An upcoming holiday movie will soon begin filming at Nutwood Winery on Upper Big Springs Rd. in LaGrange.
A production company chose the local winery for its primary setting as much of the film revolves around wine, said Nutwood co-owner Trish Liechty.
The romantic holiday film has not yet been officially titled.
The Liechtys were recently able to finalize the deal for using the winery in the movie and bring the film production to Troup County. Several other locations around Downtown LaGrange are also reportedly being used in the movie. Pretty Good Books, Emberglow, Venucci and LaFayette Square are expected to be used as filming locations.
“They’re going to use the names Troup County and LaGrange in the movie, too,” Liechty said. “So that could potentially help bring visitors here.”
Filming for the movie is set to begin in September.
Liechty said the winery will likely not need to close outside of normal business hours because much of the filming can be done during the week when they are normally closed. The winery is open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursdays and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
The movie is expected to be broadcast on TV, but it is not yet clear where it will be broadcast.
