LaGrange police are searching for a man who allegedly assaulted and strangled a woman Wednesday evening inside her apartment on Habersham Drive.

Investigators said Jarrell D. Williams, 26, of LaGrange, is wanted for aggravated assault and making terroristic threats.

The victim told investigators Williams strangled her, which caused her to lose consciousness. He then fled the scene.

According to police, Williams is African-American with a tattoo on his forehead of the letters LAG. He has another tattoo on his neck that says “Blessed,” and a small cross tattooed on his right cheek.

Battery

A woman told police she was punched in the face by a stranger while walking down Niles Street near the baseball fields about 6 p.m. Tuesday.

According to the victim, an unknown male approached her and began asking her questions like her name and age. The victim said she asked the man why he was asking so many questions and began walking away from him.

She told LaGrange police officers the suspect followed her for a short distance, then punched her in the face from behind at least four times.

The suspect left the area and the victim went to the hospital for treatment, where officers met her.

According to the police report, the woman had visible injuries to her face.

She told officers she did not know the man who hit her.

The victim described the suspect as an African-American male, medium build, 5 feet, 4 inches tall, short-cut hair and in his mid-20s. She said he was wearing black jogging pants, a black Nike pullover and brown boots.

Window shot out at amphitheater

The property manager of the Sweetland Amphitheater at 110 Smith St. called LaGrange police Wednesday after discovering bullet holes in a window above the women’s bathroom as well as in some glass bottles.

The manager told police he believed the window was shot out with a BB gun.

He explained to officers he immediately checked footage from area surveillance cameras and noticed four juveniles jumped over the fence Sunday evening with their bikes and were riding around the area where the damage occurred.

Officers looked over the area and found a small BB pellet next to one of the broken bottles.

The property manager estimated the damage to the window was about $300.

Cell tower thefts

An employee with the Southern LINC company called LaGrange police Wednesday after a generator battery was stolen from their cell phone tower located off Robertson Street.

The employee said there has been a rash of battery thefts from the company’s cell phone towers all over Troup County.

The cost of the Duracell generator battery is $150.

LaGrange police and the Troup County Sheriff’s Office officials are investigating the thefts.
